Jordan Spieth’s immediate focus is locked on the U.S. Open, but fans already have a clearer picture of what lies ahead for the former major champion after a pair of recent announcements added new dates to his schedule.
Just days before the start of the U.S. Open, the Travelers Championship revealed that Spieth and Tony Finau will be joining the field for the tournament, which begins June 25. The event shared the news on June 16 through a social media announcement, describing the pair as “two of golf’s premier entertainers” returning to the tournament.
The Travelers Championship has consistently attracted many of the PGA Tour’s biggest names, and the addition of Spieth and Finau gives fans another opportunity to watch two established stars compete shortly after the season’s third major concludes.
Beyond his PGA Tour commitments, Spieth has also expanded his involvement in junior golf. Earlier this month, the Junior Tour Powered by Under Armour announced the creation of the inaugural Jordan Spieth Championship, scheduled to begin on October 16 in Dallas. The event marks another step in Spieth’s ongoing efforts to support youth golf through initiatives connected to the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation.
Spieth Looks Ahead to Shinnecock Hills Challenge
While those future appearances are now on the calendar, Spieth’s attention remains fixed on one of golf’s most demanding tests.
Speaking with Under Armour Golf on June 16, Spieth discussed the challenge awaiting players at Shinnecock Hills, a course he holds in particularly high regard.
“It’s one of the best courses in the world,” Spieth said. “It’s amazing. The last U.S. Open there, the important thing was finding the center of the greens. So I’m looking forward to trying to do that a little bit more.”
Spieth noted that the layout’s links-style characteristics can dramatically alter how the course plays throughout the week.
“It kind of plays, you know, link style, sand dune style golf where the ball can get run in and the course can change a ton from Thursday to Sunday,” he explained.
For the 2015 U.S. Open champion, the formula is straightforward. “Just getting yourself in the mix for the first two days and then get ready to try to make a bunch of pars on the weekend.”

The challenge will be significant. According to DraftKings odds entering the tournament, Scottie Scheffler stands as the clear favorite at +445, with Rory McIlroy next at +920. Spieth enters as a longer shot at +8200 as he seeks his first major championship since winning The Open in 2017.
The betting numbers reflect the dominant form Scheffler has displayed over the past several seasons, while McIlroy continues to be viewed as one of the sport’s top contenders whenever a major championship arrives.
For Spieth, the odds may not be favorable, but his track record in major championships has often made him a player worth watching when conditions become difficult.
Scheffler Chasing Rare Golf History
