Joaquin Niemann Weighs LIV Future Against PGA Tour Return

Joaquin Niemann stands at a major fork in the road. The LIV Golf superstar has admitted he is unsure about his future. He might stay in the Saudi-backed league or try to return to the PGA Tour. This decision could define the next chapter of his career.

Niemann says he is still deciding what to do. He has a few weeks to make up his mind. The choice is between believing in the current league model or heading to Europe to try and earn a spot on the elite tour. The golf world watches closely as he weighs his options.

The Options on the Table

Niemann laid out his thoughts clearly in recent interviews. He sees two main paths forward. One path involves staying with LIV Golf and buying into the new league structure. The other path takes him to Europe to compete for a PGA Tour spot. “The truth is, I’m still deciding what to do; whether I want to stay and believe in what’s happening in the league or go play more in Europe and from there try to get on the PGA Tour.

So, those are my two options in the end. I’ll have to make a decision in a couple of weeks,” Niemann said. He noted that being a shareholder in LIV 2.0 has positive aspects, but he isn’t sure if that long-term vision fits his current career stage. At this point in my career, I am uncertain whether I want to pursue something I believe might require a couple of years.

He also addressed the reality of the PGA Tour’s current rules. He has not spoken with the PGA to explore a return because the barriers are high. “No, they have their rules and the truth is there’s nothing that can be done,” he added. Despite the closed door, he remains hopeful that it will open eventually. He believes the market will force a change.

“And if not, it will open eventually. In the end, they’re going to need good players, and competition always demands having the best players together.” These comments were highlighted by Yahoo Sports in their coverage of the ongoing tour saga. Niemann knows he must ask himself hard questions before committing. “So, these are questions I have to ask myself before making a decision.”

The Business of Choice

This situation highlights the tension between financial security and competitive prestige. LIV Golf offers a different model with shareholder equity, which appeals to some players looking for long-term stability. However, the PGA Tour remains the ultimate stage for most competitive golfers. Niemann’s hesitation suggests that the allure of the traditional tour still holds weight.

If he stays, he bets on the league growing and eventually merging or coexisting. If he leaves, he risks his earnings to chase a dream that might not materialize immediately. The pressure is on him to decide in a matter of weeks. His choice will signal to other players whether the LIV model is sustainable or if the traditional tours will eventually reclaim their dominance.

Niemann has set a tight deadline for himself. He stated he will have to make a decision in a couple of weeks. Until then, the speculation will continue.
