Happy Gilmore is back—and this time, he’s bringing half the PGA TOUR with him. Netflix rolled out the red carpet Monday night at Lincoln Center, and let me tell you, it was electric. This was a wild movie premiere full of A-list stars, sports legends, and yes, golf’s finest all turning out for the debut of “Happy Gilmore 2.”

After nearly three decades, Adam Sandler has resurrected one of his most iconic characters. If the premiere buzz is any indication, this sequel is teeing up for a monster hit.

Leading the charge, of course, was Sandler himself, joined by returning cast members Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald (yep, Shooter’s still gunning for that gold jacket), and Kevin Nealon—plus new faces like Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (Bad Bunny), Haley Joel Osment, and Benny Safdie. But what stole the show? The cameos.

Scottie Scheffler, fresh off his second major win of the year at The Open, was there. Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa, Will Zalatoris—all there. John Daly, Lee Trevino, Jim Furyk? You bet. Even Paige Spiranac and Alix Earle brought the social media buzz. This wasn’t just a Hollywood event—it was a celebration of Happy’s deep roots in golf culture.

“Everybody knows what the Happy Gilmore swing is,” Scheffler said. “It’s a part of golf culture for sure.”

Finau echoed that feeling: “It’s not even a dream come true because I didn’t even dream that something like this could happen. So it’s pretty special.”

You could feel the nostalgia, energy, and respect for a comedy that somehow nailed the ridiculous and the relatable in a single slapshot.

From Cult Classic to Cultural Canon

Let’s not forget that the original Happy Gilmore dropped in 1996 and became an instant classic. It was loud, chaotic, absurd—and it spoke to a generation of golf fans who didn’t exactly fit the country club mold. Sandler’s Happy was the guy who’d rather fight a gator than read a green, and we loved him for it.

Now, “Happy Gilmore 2”, dropping Friday, July 25, on Netflix, brings that same energy back—with even more firepower. Cameos galore. New characters. Sandler in the jersey. And yes, Shooter McGavin is still Shooter McGavin.

So whether you’re a diehard golf fan, a Sandler stan, or just someone who can quote “The price is wrong…” in your sleep—this one’s for you.
