The 2025 LPGA Qualifying Series, golf’s gruelling gateway to the tour, hit an early snag before a single shot was fired.
Weather Halts First Round Before a Single Shot is Taken

On what was supposed to be Day One of the Final Qualifying stage, players arrived to find the course unplayable, and just like that, Thursday’s round was postponed. It was a frustrating but necessary call made by the Rules Officials, who assessed the course conditions and deemed them unsuitable for competition. The delay wasn’t due to oversight or lack of preparation; it was nature throwing its weight around, reminding everyone that even elite competition bows to the weather.
LPGA Round 1 Rescheduled for Friday Morning, Pending Final Inspection
But this is Q-Series, where pressure never sleeps, and plans must flex. The officials are moving quickly to get the tournament back on track. With drier weather anticipated overnight, Round 1 is now scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. CST on Friday. That start, however, hinges on a pre-dawn evaluation of course conditions by Rules Officials and the Superintendent, a final green light before the players tee it up.
Tournament Extended Through Tuesday, With Format Still Flexible
The new plan? The full 90-hole marathon remains the goal, but the timeline shifts. The tournament will now stretch into Tuesday, December 9th, adding a fifth day to what was already a pressure-packed schedule. That extension reflects the LPGA’s commitment to giving every player a fair, complete chance to earn their card. However, there’s still a caveat in place: if Mother Nature isn’t done meddling, the number of holes played could be reduced to adapt to any further delays.
For players, especially those teetering on the edge of securing tour status, this change adds even more tension to an already nerve-wracking week. The physical toll of five straight days of elite golf is considerable, but the mental grind is even more brutal. One hole, one shot, can swing a career.
For now, the field waits. Tomorrow, the pursuit of an LPGA Tour card resumes, one day later, with stakes just as high, and the journey a little longer than expected.
