The Genesis Championship has turned into a two-man duel at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club. Antoine Rozner and Casey Jarvis sit alone at the top of the leaderboard after Friday’s second round. Both golfers reached 10-under par through 36 holes in South Korea.
The leaderboard remains tight as the pair holds a three-stroke advantage over a group of four players. This chasing pack includes Open Champion Ryan Fox and DP World Tour winner Martin Couvra. According to Sky Sports News via UA.NEWS, the group also contains Filippo Celli and Sanghun Shin.
A Friday Surge in Korea
Rozner provided the most impressive performance of the afternoon. Yahoo Sports reported that the Frenchman erased a three-shot deficit during his second round. He carded a bogey-free 65, which tied for the lowest round of the day. His charge began on the back nine. He drained a 44-foot birdie putt at the 13th hole. He then added more gains at the 16th and 18th holes. He also picked up birdies at the fifth, seventh, and eighth holes to finish his round. He credited his short game for his success, stating, “My chipping has been really good this week so far,” per Yahoo Sports.
Jarvis held the lead after starting the day with a one-shot advantage. The South African shot a 4-under 67 to stay level with Rozner. According to the Associated Press, Jarvis is hunting for his third victory of the 2026 season. He previously won the South African Open and the Magical Kenya Open earlier this year. He recorded four birdies on Friday without any bogeys. Golf Digest Middle East noted that his round included 14 pars to set the clubhouse target.
The 23-year-old’s recent rise is quite significant. Jarvis went from having no top-ten finishes last season to being a top performer on the DP World Tour. He noted his recent success by saying, “I think once I won in Kenya, everything kind of changed,” per Yahoo Sports.
For Rozner, the stakes involve more than just a trophy. With a 77th place position in the Race to Dubai standings, he entered the tournament. He needs to reach the top 50 to qualify for the upcoming DP World Tour Play-Offs. He is very focused on the immediate task. “I have to focus on winning the tournament. I can’t hide that,” Rozner said, per Yahoo Sports.
Consistency Drives the Leaders
Both players are relying on steady, mistake-free golf to stay at the top. Rozner isn’t just relying on big putts. He is also finding rhythm with his approach shots. He told Golf Digest Middle East, “So I think it’s very solid overall. I’m very pleased, very happy with the score and the position I’m in.” He also noted that his putting inside ten feet is very reliable.
Jarvis is playing a disciplined game to protect his lead. He isn’t taking unnecessary risks around the flags. According to Compleat Golfer, Jarvis noted that he has been playing well since his victory in Kenya. He said, “I just felt like the pressure was coming off me, so I think that was the biggest change, and then obviously I’ve been putting a lot better than the previous season, which also helps.”
